Bohr Model || Atoms - 5 || for Class 12 in Hindi

In this Physics video in Hindi for Class 12 we explained Bohr model of the hydrogen atom. We also explained three postulates proposed by Neils Bohr. This is a topic from Chapter 12 : 'Atoms' for Class 12 from NCERT.

Bohr's postulates :

1. An electron in an atom could revolve in certain stable orbits without the emission of radiant energy.
2. Electron revolves around the nucleus only in those orbits for which the angular momentum is some integral multiple of h/2π.
3. An electron might make a transition from one of its specified non-radiating orbits to another of lower energy by emitting photon having energy equal to the energy difference between the initial and final states.
In the beginning of the twentieth century Neils Bohr was working to explain the reason behind hydrogen emission spectrum. As a result in 1913 he came to propose aforementioned 3 postulates. The first of the postulates explained the reason why electron revolving in an orbit around nucleus does not emit electromagnetic radiation.
