Spokesperson for the Taliban's political office in Doha, Sohail Shaheen, stated that progress has been made at the intra-Afghan peace talks in Moscow on Thursday.

"We agreed that in the future government, Taliban will see themselves in that government," Shaheen said.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai mentioned that the discussion was "good" and there were "concluding statements from all sides."

Former governor of Afghanistan's northern Balkh province, Atta Mohammad Noor, explained the absence of Kabul government officials from the talks, saying that Taliban is "not ready to talk with the government right now."

Answering a question about this year's planned presidential election, Noor said "I don't believe that the election will take place if President [Ashraf] Ghani continues to do what he is doing right now. Mr. Ghani is trying to stay in power for himself."

Representatives of the Taliban met with Afghan politicians as well as civil society representatives to discuss the prospects of peace and the removal of all foreign troops from Afghanistan.
