The Shadow Of Your Smile - with Tuba Solo - Brenda Wootton

The Shadow of Your Smile, taken from Seagull, the final studio album by Cornish singer Brenda Wootton , released in 1990. Composed by Johnny Mandel and Paul Francis Webster ( 1965 ). Brenda wrote in her album notes:-

The tuba played by Stephen Sykes of Camborne Town Band emphasises the warm feeling of this love song. Here I imagine I am on the distant sand of Hayle beach on the north coast of West Cornwall, holding a damaged seabird in my hand on a grey stormy day in winter.

Brenda Wootton, still affectionately known as Cornwall's First Lady of Song, was a Cornish singer extrodinaire whose wide repertoire included folk, Celtic, roots, Gospel, Spiritual, hymns, jazz, and blues and more. Brenda was a prolific performer and recording artiste from at least 1968 through to 1990. She regularly sang in several languages, including Cornish Breton and French, besides English. Hailing from Newlyn , Brenda performed widely in her native Cornwall / Kernow and across Great Britain, Brittany, France and beyond.
