On passion... 2018 Connecticut Teacher of the Year, Erin Kathleen Berthold

2018 Connecticut Teacher of the Year Erin Kathleen Berthold reveals that she had not intended to become a teacher; she had originally planned on a career in the arts. But, she says, that changed in college when she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Having gone into teaching, she loves what she does and has not forsaken her passion for the arts; she now shares it with her students through her curriculum. If she could give advice to her younger self or to other teachers, she says, it would be to “find a way to bring your passions into the classroom.”

The ‘Lessons from Teachers of the Year’ series is a partnership between Google for Education and CCSSO that aims to elevate the teaching profession and capture the thinking of some of the United States’ best educators. See the full playlist at goo.gl/grYg2p
