Imperial Airways to India - A state welcome for a Handley Page aircraft arriving in Kolkata.

The arrival in Calcutta of a Handley Page biplane after the flight from England - quite a journey in 1917, hence, presumably, the sense of occasion here. On the runway to greet the arrivals are India's then Viceroy, Frerick Thesiger (Viscount Chelmsford) and his wife, as well as their young daughter, named here as Margarete, who later found fame as photographer Margaret Monck.
