Gravity Flow Controls Thousands of Kilograms per Hour

Large volumes of granular material rarely move as predictably as they appear from a distance.

In this storage bunker, gravity provides the driving force while the operator manages flow behavior inside the discharge zone. The process depends on material geometry, particle interaction, and controlled release rather than powered transport equipment.

The aggregate consists of thousands of small particles moving toward a discharge opening capable of handling many tonnes per hour. When compaction or bridging occurs, a long-handled tool is used to restore movement and maintain a stable flow path.

What makes the operation interesting is that the challenge is not generating force. Gravity already provides that. The real engineering task is designing storage angles, outlet dimensions, and operating procedures that prevent the material from resisting its own movement.

Many industrial systems become more reliable when engineers work with material behavior rather than against it.
