S Jaishankar Set to File Rajya Sabha Nomination // Govt Allows ED to Share Data with GSTN

On Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat representing Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The Election Commission has released the election schedule for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal, which are set to take place on July 24. According to the Commission, 10 members from these states are due to retire in July and August, including Derek O'Brien from West Bengal and S Jaishankar from Gujarat, leading to the vacancies in the Rajya Sabha.
In a significant development, the government has introduced amendments to the money laundering Act, enabling the enforcement directorate (ED) to exchange information with the GST Network (GSTN). This crucial revision aims to facilitate the detection and retrieval of Goods and Services Tax (GST) evaded through money laundering activities. The GSTN, responsible for managing the technological infrastructure of the indirect tax system, serves as a centralised repository for all GST-related data, encompassing returns, tax filings, and other compliance records
