How to Connect Godaddy Domain to AWS EC2

How to Connect Godaddy Domain to AWS EC2

To connect your GoDaddy domain to an AWS EC2 instance, first ensure your EC2 instance is running and note its Public IP address. Next, navigate to AWS Route 53 and create a new Hosted Zone for your GoDaddy domain (e.g., `yourdomain.com`). AWS will provide four Name Servers for this Hosted Zone. Log into your GoDaddy account, go to your domain's DNS management settings, and update the default GoDaddy Name Servers to the four Name Servers provided by Route 53. This crucial step delegates the domain's DNS control to AWS. Finally, return to your Hosted Zone in Route 53 and create an 'A' record. For the 'Name' field, enter your domain (e.g., `yourdomain.com` or `www` for a subdomain) and for the 'Value', input your EC2 instance's Public IP address. Save the record. DNS propagation can take a few minutes to up to 48 hours, after which your GoDaddy domain will point to your AWS EC2 instance.
