Human Variation (Or, why some yoga poses feel impossible): Tips for Yoga Students

Every noticed that some yoga poses feel impossible, while others feel easy breezy? In this video, we look at three quick self-tests you can do to see how your unique shape and proportions (what we call "human variation") can play a direct role in the expression of your yoga practice ~ and explain why some poses may never have felt quite right.

Yoga practice isn't all about being "flexible", there are many structures (joints! bones! ligaments! joint capsules! and more!) that impact the look and feel of a pose. Becoming familiar with your own unique structure can give you the tools to optimize your own practice, as well as to let go of any well-intentioned idea that we're all supposed to look the same.
