Ten Bare-faced curassows travel to Iberá Park

The project to reintroduce the Bare-faced curassow in Iberá Park is right on track. Some days ago, six females and four males that had arrived from the Criadouro Onça Pintada in Brazil successfully finished their quarantine process.

Their next step is Yerbalito, in northern Iberá, where they’ll remain in a large pre-release enclosure for some weeks to adapt to the environment where they’ll live freely.

By eating large fruits and scattering their seeds, the Bare-faced curassow helps regenerate the forests it inhabits. Restoring keystone species like the Bare-faced curassow and the correct functioning of ecosystems is one of the main goals of Rewilding.
