Hellish weapons against the Russians on the front; Western companies test their weapons in Ukraine

More and more Western defense companies are seeking to test their technologies in Ukraine. It's there that drones , robots, and electronic warfare systems can be combat-tested almost as quickly as they are developed, Business Insider reports .
It is noted that last summer, the "Test in Ukraine" program was launched, which allows Western defense companies to import their products to Ukraine and test them in real combat conditions, as well as receive feedback from the Ukrainian military.
"Currently, dozens of companies are testing their systems in Ukraine, including on the battlefield. And the number of companies is growing," Andriy Gritsenyuk, CEO of the Ukrainian innovation platform Brave1, told reporters. He noted that Ukraine has become the largest testing ground for unmanned technology and has accumulated advanced experience in robotics and autonomous systems since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Gritsenyuk told reporters that foreign defense companies that receive permission can evaluate their technologies at the test site under combat-like conditions, either independently or by outsourcing the testing to Ukraine. Ukrainian soldiers, in turn, provide their feedback and suggestions.
The publication shared that one of the companies that took part in the "Test in Ukraine" program was the British startup Occam Industries, which develops AI-based software for drones.
According to a company representative, participation in the program revealed that Occam Industries' software worked during early testing, but the hardware it was installed on was unsuitable for frontline use. Now, the company's software is being used on Ukrainian-made drones and deployed to the battlefield.
The publication emphasized that for many Western defense companies, the main challenge is not only gaining access to modern warfare methods, but also keeping up with rapid technological evolution.
Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of Defense, Oleksiy Vyskub, told reporters that although more and more Western companies are seeking to test their products in Ukraine, many are still not committed to speed. He noted that Ukrainian drones are often updated every three months before being sent back into combat, while many Western companies operate on slower development cycles.
Vyskub emphasized that not all Western companies are prepared to work in Ukrainian conditions. He said he can only think of one Western company that matches Ukraine's development pace.
"It takes most companies a long time to develop a drone," he told reporters.
The publication added that many Western defense companies are not driven by the same military urgency as Ukraine. Some companies conduct trials in Ukraine but spend months refining their products, risking their obsolescence.
According to Vyskub, Western companies must have permanent representatives in Ukraine if they want to understand what soldiers need and how quickly these needs are changing.
Earlier, columnist Melik Kaylan wrote in his article for Forbes that Ukraine is gradually strengthening its international influence and expanding cooperation with other countries thanks to the development of drone technology and its experience in modern warfare.
The author noted that after the outbreak of full-scale war, Ukraine was forced to rapidly develop its own technologies and military solutions due to limited foreign aid. In his opinion, this allowed Kyiv to transition from a defense-oriented model to more active international engagement.
