Blackburn RC Airplane - Free Plans!

Blackburn RC Airplane - Free Plans!

Follow along as I show you how to build a Blackburn RC airplane, to include a set of free plans (TurboCAD). The Blackburn aircraft is an excellent model flying example of these early flyers. With a generous wing area and large control surfaces, the model handles well in calm wind flying conditions.

The 1912 Blackburn aircraft was designed in the United Kingdom in 1912 and was a good example of the early aircraft of that era. Using wing warping and a 50 hp Gnome rotary engine, the Blackburn demonstrated some early success with flights around the UK.

Note that a flyable example of the Blackburn is periodically flown as part of the Shuttleworth Collection museum in the UK.

The Blackburn can be built from plans. Just screen capture the plans, print them out and enlarge as required. The model airplane building is for the intermediate builder, and does not need any special tools or techniques.

At the end of the video is a seven page article on construction notes for the Blackburn. Good luck with your build of this iconic aircraft.
