15:17 (raw footage) A gas explosion was reported that damaged 4 buildings leaving 19 critically injured and 4 with minor injuries. FDNY was on site within 3 minutes of the initial blast according to FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro. Seven Fire Fighters suffered minor injuries of which 3 were treated at the scene while 4 were transported and hospitalized.
The explosion and fire consumed 119, 121, 123 and 125 Second Avenue, the buildings are combination residential and commercial buildings.
121 and 123 buildings both pancake collapsed, De Blasio stated.

119 Second Avenue is also in danger of collapsing. This was a five stories building. The structure has only the front wall still standing, and ready to collapse.

121 Second Avenue “the façade was blown clear across the street” “A” side is still standing. This structure was undergoing a gas line upgrade but “The work failed the L & I inspection for several reasons, including insufficient spacing for the installation of the meter in the basement,” a statement from the utility company reads. “A survey conducted yesterday March 25, 2015 of the gas mains on the block found no leaks. We continue to work with all agencies on the investigation into the cause, and we are praying for the recovery of all the injured.”

123 building is completely leveled.
