JOSÉ CURA in Bucharest. "George Enescu Festival" in 2021
JOSÉ CURA in Bucharest. "George Enescu Festival" on September 5, 2021 at the Grand Palace Hall.
JOSÉ CURA conducted three of his own works, "Modus", "Te Deum" by World Premiere and "Ecce Homo" together with Philharmonia Orchestra, London.
◼George Enescu Festival...September 5th, 2021 ---- José Cura composed a Te Deum especially for the Jubilee Edition of the Enescu Festival - a piece he wrote during the pandemic and which has its world premiere today at 7.30pm at the Grand Palace Hall. He shared a few words with us about the composition.
Jose Cura: „I dedicated it to the Festival because it’s the Festival’s 25th Anniversary. Is a good reason to say Te Deum Laudamus, to be happy, to raise up, and to say we are still here, we are gonna fight. So, it’s a very symbolic situation for me.”

INTERVIEW with MR. Mihai Constantinescu: (organizer of George Enescu Festival 2021)
"TE DEUM" dedicated to George Enescu by JOSÉ CURA
Q: Can you detail a little the component of the original creation of the Festival?
Mihai Constantinescu: I would like to mention here the "TE DEUM" dedicated to George Enescu by José Cura as a novel compositional element. Thus, the festival proves not only an interpretive celebration but also one of the original creation inspired by the Escian musical aura.
We finished the Festival program in December 2019 and, after we scheduled José Cura in our program, after that, from a happy juncture, it matched very well with the period in which the Festival takes place, but it also coincided with the unfortunate moment we had that day: the loss of Ion Caramitru.
So they met some evil fairies, but it was the music that defeated them: the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with impressive video projections in the background, performed an overwhelming performance on symphonic vocal music inspired by Enecian creation.
