X Japan - Live - 2018.04.14 - Coachella Weekend 1

Seeing X Japan was such an out of body experience for me. I fell in love with X Japan during their hiatus, and once they had a reunion, I didn't have the means to get to them. Thus, I've waited over 10 years to see this band perform. The moment the lights hit, and the members all walked out on stage, I could feel the tears well up in my eyes. It was just all so unreal for me to be THIS close to X Japan (Thank you Beyonce for clearing the crowd).

Luckily though, the crowd filled right up as they began, and it was great to be part of the audience. A rock journalist to my left, and a rock enthusiast who had never heard of X Japan to my right, we were all enthralled by the time the music blasted us in the face. Literally, there was a big ass speaker right in front of me. It was so loud that I didn't even realize the glitter cannons had gone off until I realized I had shiny bits clinging to my clothing. Not gonna lie though, I'm a little bit salty that I didn't stand about 10 feet to my left, since that's where Yoshiki decided to crowd surf. It was also where he THREW HIS DRUMSTICKS (14:55)... I kind of lost my shit in jealousy but a great moment nonetheless. My consolation was getting hit by quite a bit of the water Sugizo splashed into the crowd (16:00). Yes, a 48 year old man got me extremely wet.

Very thankful for the experience as a whole. I wasn't able to capture everything due to limited memory and battery, but I diced together some of the footage I WAS able to collect. Apologies for the poor audio in some sections, it was just too loud for my phone to pick up without distortion. I'm not complaining though, absolutely mindblowing set they played. I'm still a bit overwhelmed from it all! Thank you Coachella for giving me this moment, and thank you X Japan. We are X!
