Myanmar Coup: The United Nations' Stand | In Conversation | António Guterres, UN Secretary-General

It has detained Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior members of the elected government, ending a decade of civilian rule. The United Nations Security Council met in an emergency meeting but failed to make a unified statement condemning the coup. Is this the end of democracy in Myanmar and a return to military rule?

In an exclusive interview with CNA, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres tells Lin Xueling that he backs peaceful civil disobedience against the coup, as the UN does “everything we can in order to make the international community aware”.
