COMPRESSION TEST - HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION - ENGINE FAULT - 160 tkm SERVICE - BMW F20 engine N13
COMPRESSION TEST of CYLINDERS - HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION - ENGINE FAULT - 160 tkm SERVICE - BMW F20 engine N13
#CylinderCompressionTest #HighOilConsumption #EngineFault #160tkmService #BMWF20 #BMWN13
- As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car
- Let's continue where we left off in the last episode!
- The car currently consumes about one liter of oil per 1000 kilometers
- It's time to do a compression test on the cylinders to find out if there is something wrong there!
- Disconnect the fuel pump 20A fuse from fuse slot F165
- Drain the fuel lines at idle
- Remove the ignition coils and spark plugs
- Press the gas pedal to the bottom and crank the engine 5-10 times, or until the needle on the compression gauge stops ratcheting up
- Referring to ISTA-D, a normal compression test result is 8 to 15 bar, i.e. 116 to 217 psi
- The compression pressures of the cylinders are fine and in line
- It seems that the valve stem seals are worn and need to be replaced
- Blue smoke comes from the exhaust pipe when starting or when the car has been stationary for a short while
- The oil gets through the rubber seals of the valves into the combustion chamber of the cylinder, causing the oil to burn in the cylinder and cause blue smoke
- New valve stem seals have been ordered, so it's time to replace them!
- In the next episode I will start the project first by cleaning the fuel injectors, and after that the valve stem seals will be replaced
Let’s continue with the next episode! Stay tuned!

My purpose is to encourage people to do things themselves!
Plus, this is a nice hobby for myself and at the same time I have the opportunity to save a lot of money by doing all the maintenance myself!
I’m not a professional with cars or motorcycles, I just want to learn how to do things myself.
If you do this service yourself, always check the correct instructions in the official service manuals. This is just my way of doing it!
