Think Again: The Gavel of Grace | Wang Vivi | TEDxNACIS Shanghai Youth

My talk is titled “Think Again.” Using the true story of Judge Frank Caprio from a municipal courtroom in Rhode Island, I explore how we can rethink the nature of justice, success, and human connection within seemingly rigid rules and systems. I walk the line between reason and heart. Logic guides my understanding, while feeling connects me to life. I find poetry in delicate kindness, and power in thoughts that can reshape reality. I observe, but I think deeper. I look for the person behind the rule, the story behind what’s seen, and the quiet ties that bind us. This led me to the truth: we each hold an invisible gavel. It can divide or connect. The choice is ours: to judge quickly, or to listen first. To condemn, or to comprehend. That’s why I’m here—to speak about this gavel we carry. When we turn it from a tool for judgment into a tool for understanding, we don’t just decide a moment. We begin to build a kinder world. I’m Vivi.
