"The Valiant Girls" by Richard Le Gallienne (read by Tom O'Bedlam)
Written, I guess, in the 1920's this is a tribute to girls who work in offices. It is somewhat like John Betjeman's "Business Girls".
I think it was G K Chesterton who commented that women paraded through the streets with banners saying "We will not be dictated to" - then went back to their jobs as stenographers.
I have to add a piece of graffiti I once saw, prompted by the line "though doubtless they were fair enough." It read. "My name is Nuff. I'm a Fairy. Fairy Nuff?"
