Is this Natural or an Alien species @ AZ Off-Grid (Unplugged) Ranch

I came across a "plant" that I am not certain if it is a natural or an alien species.. Who know, maybe the aliens came and "inhabited" the wrong life form,, thinking they were so prolific,, they must be the dominant life form.. Unwittingly going into a very slow growth cactus.. Seriously though,, do plants "graft" themselves naturally when one is not a lifesucking form, like mistletoe on mesquite.?
