Los Osos Valley Road Head On TC w/ Double Extrication San Luis Obispo 8/3/16
Just before 2:30PM this Wednesday afternoon, a SLO Sheriffs Deputy reported he witnessed a vehicle collision with one car off the roadway into a ditch on Los Osos Valley Road near Turri Road. A full CAL FIRE, CHP and Ambulance response was started to that collision, which turned out to be minor injury. While CHP units were on the way they came upon another collision on LOVR in front of Sunny Acres, just West of Diablo Drive near the City Limits of San Luis Obispo.
According to CHP, the driver of a maroon Chevy Blazer coming into SLO sideswiped a gray Ford Fusion passenger car, before going head on with a white Chevy utility van, both headed Westbound towards Los Osos. They reportedly saw the Blazer coming at them, but there was nothing they could do in time.
Resources were diverted to this serious collision, with the drivers of the SUV and van being pinned in their vehicles suffering from major injuries. 4 fire engines, a truck, 2 ambulances, 2 battalion chiefs and other support staff worked the scene along with a host of CHP and CAL FIRE Officers investigating. Extrication took an hour and five minutes on the van, with 80 minutes elapsing before the Blazer driver was freed. The two occupants of the Ford Fusion suffered only minor injuries and were not transported.
The roadway was reopened at 4:35PM. No names have been released at this time. The Blazer driver is reportedly from Arroyo Grande, while the Fusion and Van owners are from Coalinga and Los Osos.
