With insufficient light and obscurants like fog/smoke. there's only so much that can be done to maximize resolution, signal-to-noise and sharpness even with a full-frame image sensor camera and large lens. It's much worse with typical cellphone-size image sensors (on the order of 80mm2 vs 860mm2) and their tiny lenses. Insufficient light can reduce such video to pastel-skintones, blowouts, graininess/noise and/or blurriness. Fortunately, We Can Make It Better - We Have the Technology
