After the Battle of the Wilderness, Ulysses S. Grant, George Meade, and the Union Army of the Potomac disengaged with Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and began to move toward Spotsylvania Court House. What resulted was the bloodiest battle of the Overland Campaign. In this episode, Emory Upton opened up a hold in the Confederate line at the Mule Shoe Salient.
