How to manage thumb pain at home

Osteoarthritis of the base of the thumb is the most common site for arthritis in the hand.

If you suffer from Osteoarthritis regular massage and exercise is important in reducing stiffness, keeping your joints and muscles working and maintaining strength in the thumb. In order to loosen and lengthen tight muscles around the thumb for better movement, your hand therapist will develop a personalised treatment plan which may include joint protection advice, a specific exercise program and custom made splints to provide pain relief and allow for functional use of the hand.

No two treatment plans are the same. Your hand therapist will create an individual arthritis treatment plan for you.
