How to Check if an Android Device is Google Play Protect Certified or Not

Google Play certification has been a thing for years now but most people have been able to ignore whether or not their device is certified.

This is related to SafetyNet checks but will have a different set of circumstances to deal with.

A recent report indicates that Google Duo may become deactivated from uncertified devices in the future. It's unclear when this will happen or if it ever will (Google plans plenty of things they don't fully go through with).

But in preparation, I wanted to do a video tutorial that showed you how to check and see if your device had Google Play Store certification or not. More details can be found here:

For my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is no longer considered certified after I unlock the bootloader. This is due to me now failing SafetyNet checks which will normally go away after I install Magisk.

Not everyone uses Magisk though. So I wanted to provide a way for people to become aware of and troubleshoot the issue if they ever come across it in the future.

We're able to quickly check if our Android smartphone or tablet is Play Protect certified by opening up the Google Play Store application. From there, go into the Settings area and scroll all the way down.

You should see a "Play Protect Certification" option at the bottom. And it's here that you'll find out if your device is certified or not.
