May 23 is both World Turtle Day and World Fish Migration Day — and it turns out the old fable holds up.

Chinook salmon make one of the most demanding freshwater migrations on the planet, travelling up Canada's Yukon River to spawn. The leatherback sea turtle crosses the open ocean annually on a scale that's hard to comprehend. Both journeys are extraordinary. Both depend on healthy, connected ecosystems to survive.
