Restoring a Vintage Vienna Pocket Watch | Rare Flea Market Find from a Burned Watchmaker Shop

This has been a long-term restoration project—I bought this special pocket watch over 20 years ago at a flea market. The seller had purchased a collection of watches from a watchmaker’s shop that burned down, making this watch a true survivor.

The dial reads “Wien” (Vienna), my hometown, adding a personal and historical connection to this timepiece.

Last summer, inspired by nostalgia and a desire to preserve family heritage, I decided to restore the watch and add it to my collection—to one day pass it down through generations.

🛠️ Restoration Highlights:
Found an expert in Germany who professionally refurbished the dial
Replaced the old steel Breguet hands, sourced from eBay
Restored and heat-blued the screws with flames to honor the watch’s fiery past
