Nissan Racing History - Paul Newman, Roger Mears and More

Nissan started to become a force in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing when Bob Sharp a Datsun dealer earned victories in his roadster, then his modified Datsun 510 and a number of Z cars.

He teamed up with actor Paul Newman to start the Newman Sharp team. He scored well in the Trans Am series with his 300 ZX Turbo.

Jim Fitzgerald became the winningest driver in SCCA competition. Nissan also raced in IMSA series with Don Devendorf. He was joined by drivers E. F. Robinson and Geoff Brabham in the IMSA Prototype series.

Roger Mears took Nissan into the world of off road racing and Baja.
