After being bested by the Bruins in Boston only one night before, the Penguins were hoping to rebound against the Detroit Red Wings before heading home to face Boston again. Bryan Rust continued his strong play, recording two points against Detroit. He now has eight points in his past six games. Rust’s 2nd period tally was his 20th goal of the season, a career high. Evgeni Malkin earned two assists tonight, giving him 10 points in his past six games. Geno now has 31 points in 20 games against the Red Wings. Entering the game, captain Sidney Crosby had points in five straight games against the Wings (and 12 of his last 13 against them). He was looking to keep that streak going. Would he?
