A major severe weather event is expected on Wednesday, June 17, with storms developing from Minnesota to Oklahoma and tracking east into Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and surrounding states.

TIMELINE:
• Storms begin developing around 1 PM CDT.
• Severe storms rapidly intensify through the afternoon.
• The highest-impact period looks to be during the evening commute, roughly 4 PM–6 PM CDT, including areas near Kansas City and Chicago.
• Storms continue south eastward through the evening and overnight hours.

HAZARDS:
• Widespread damaging wind gusts
• Large hail
• Tornadoes, including the potential for strong tornadoes
• Fast-moving storms capable of producing significant impacts in a short amount of time

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 4 of 5 severe weather risk, highlighting the potential for a significant severe weather outbreak.
