I've been getting a little bit envious of Thomas Heatons recent van conversion. In fact, it's made me feel so inadequate that I decided to up the ante and do some much-needed upgrades to my truck camper.

I'd like to see Thoms cute little campervan compete with the Hardcastle Hilton. My rig is now the ultimate off-grid camping machine for landscape photography.

Let me take you on a tour of my upgrades. These feature new deep cycle batteries that are fed by two solar panels on the roof. I've even got a cool method of keeping the batteries warm in winter and I've completely avoided the expense of having to install an inverter.

Will my new security measures backfire and will my 1980's dance moves justify the hi-tech upgrade of my stereo system? There's only one way to find out.
