Dover travel chaos exploded this weekend after extra EU border processing created HUGE queues for holidaymakers heading to France.

Drivers faced delays of hours during one of the hottest weekends of the year before French authorities finally suspended the additional checks to ease congestion.

The disruption is linked to the upcoming European Entry/Exit System which will eventually bring fingerprint and facial scanning checks for non-EU travellers across Europe.

Even though the machines are not fully active yet, border staff were still collecting traveller details manually — and the system struggled badly under pressure.

By Saturday afternoon traffic started flowing normally again after the extra processing was paused.

But this is what has many people worried:
if things became chaotic BEFORE the full system launches, what happens when summer travel volumes hit and every traveller has to go through biometric scanning?

The Port of Dover admitted frustration after previous assurances suggested the system would operate smoothly.

At the same time temperatures climbed above 30 degrees in parts of England, making conditions even worse for families stuck in cars for hours.
