Hanoi, Vietnam: Top 7 Sights in a Day with Local Guide | Best Food and Drinks

Hi everyone!

Today we continue our SECOND Day in Hà Nội ("inside the rivers")- this is the 2nd largest city and capital city of Vietnam.

We were lucky and fortunate to meet a local (Tram's friend). She took us around the best places to see as tourists, but also local spots to eat. We ate the BEST Buncha throughout our trip here. It was heaven. 🤤

Day 2 Itinerary
1. Grab some Breakfast from one of the many street vendors! Start the day full of energy. 🤩

2. Vietnamese Women's Museum (Ly Thuong Kiet Street) This museum is dedicated to Vietnamese women and showcases the progression of women's roles, clothing, and aspects of life throughout Vietnam's history. In 2012, Vietnamese Women’s Museum was ranked “One of the best attractions in Hanoi in 2012” by TripAdvisor. It was definitely a highlight ❤️

3. 🍲 Eat the BEST Bún chả with locals (Restaurant name: The Burrow). Buncha is a Vietnamese dish made with grilled pork and noodle, which is thought to have originated from Hanoi, Vietnam. Bún chả is served with grilled fatty pork (chả) over a plate of white rice noodle (bún) and herbs with a side dish of dipping sauce. Interesting Fact: Buncha is very DIFFERENT in North and South Vietnam.

4. 🥑 Drink an avocado smoothie (Sinh Tố Bơ), Vietnamese coffee (cà phê đá), or dark chocolate smoothie at Cong Cafe. Cong Cafe has a military-inspired look and is a franchise, so you can find them all over the city! Website: https://congcaphe.com/

5. 🚃 Take a look at the unique Train Street (Ngõ 224 Lê Duẩn) located in a narrow alley in Hanoi's Old Quarter. The rail line use to run between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the south. However, in 2019 the train line was redirected. But, it is still an interesting sight to see.

6. Visit Hao Lo Prison Memorial (Hỏa Lò Prison)- it was a prison used by the French colonists in French Indochina for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War.

7. ⛪️ Stop by St. Joseph's Cathedral on Nha Chung Street in the Hoàn Kiếm District. It is a late 19th-century Gothic Revival church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi. Enjoy the beautiful light display.
