Mega Seed Extract from Rick and Morty | How to Drink

Rick and Morty is coming back next week and I am here for it with this drink I call Mega Seed Extract!

I really couldn't be more excited about the return of Rick and Morty, it's got to be one of my absolute favorite shows currently in production. There's so many things I love about it, but the main thing for me I think is that it's totally unafraid of the implications of its premise and is willing to go wherever the pre-established rules of that setting seem to dictate. There are infinite world's, infinite Rick's, infinite Morty's and everything that goes with that is happening. If that means it's time to upset the entire timeline and reset in a new dimension, the bodies of the Rick and Morty they've replaced must remain buried in the backyard forever, and the Summer and Beth and Jerry they left behind all remain real characters. I find the whole thing to be totally refreshing.

In season one episode one we find Rick yanking Morty out of school to go on an adventure (we get the impression that this kind of thing happens fairly regularly) and they're off to collect some rare and illegal Mega Seeds that Rick needs for all kinds of science stuff. Of course, in the course of this adventure they accidentally use up all the fuel for the portal gun and are forced to head back home through customs, which means Morty is going to need to stuff those seeds WAY up in side his butt. Way up in there.

Illegal seeds? That reminds me of... Tonka Beans. Tonka Beans are a somewhat famously illegal seed that's been used in high end cuisine for decades. The flavor is extremely complex, it's rich and nutty and seems to be like pistachio and vanilla and cinnamon and nutmeg and fresh cut grass and walnut and etc. all at the same time. It's true that in VERY large doses they can be toxic, but the same can be said of cinnamon and nutmeg. At any rate, if you really want to get your hands on some, I doubt you'll have much trouble.

I make them into a Tonka Bean Syrup here, using a recipe I got from Leandro at Educated Barfly, his video on using Tonka Beans is also totally worth checking out, and I'm providing a link in the comments to help you get there.
