The child born Harlean Carpenter on March 11, 1911 was destined to become the platinum blonde, sultry comedic actress whose life was tragically cut short before her time on June 7, 1937 at the age of 26. The first movie actress to appear on the cover of LIFE magazine, Harlow's career spanned 10 years in which time she made 36 movies!
Harlow died before she could finish her final film "Saratoga" with Clark Gable. Haunted by the ravages of a childhood bout with Scarlet fever, Harlow succumbed to the effects of kidney failure, as there was not yet any treatments or technology available like antibiotics or dialysis or kidney transplants to save her.
