Masada: An in-depth guided video-tour

With David Hyman - Israeli professional tour guide. Join my tour of Israel's most famous mountain. Located near the Dead Sea, Masada mountain was chosen by King Herod as one of the stratigic locations for his Castel - fortresses. This video will introduce the many luxury facilities that the King built on the mountain during the 1st century BCE. We will visit the two palaces, the bath house, the water cisterns and the storage rooms.
Masada has become a symbole pf resistance because of the final battle that took place during the Jewish war against the Roman empire. In the year 73 CE , The Roman 10th legion placed a seige on the mountain to force the 1000 defenders to surrender. The result was that the Masada fighters preferred death and chose to kill themselves by their own hands.
The Masada drama was recorded by the Jewish historian Josephus and the modern excavations have confirmed many of the details told by the historian.

This tour will walk us through all the sites that played a major role during the siege and the tragic end: The synagogue, the siege camps and walls, the Roman ramp, the lotts that were found and the communal tomb of the fighters of Masada
