How to make New Orleans Yaka mein

New Orleans Native Charlie Andrews Demonstrates on how to make Yaka mein. Yaka mein is a type of beef noodle soup found in many Chinese and creole restaurants in New Orleans. It serves 6 to 8 people. The soup consists of a beef based broth served on top of noodles and garnished with a half of a broiled egg and chopped green onions. Yaka mein is a popular New Orleans soup. We start by taking a beef chuck roast and chop it into thin strips. Then we add onion, celery, bell pepper, garlic and my favorite New Orleans seasonings into some water. We let that simmer. Then we add beef base and the beef strips. We let it cook on a low temperature until the seasonings come together and the beef strips are tender. Once done we served it over spaghetti and garnish it with a half of a boiled egg and chopped green onions. Hope you'll be willing to give this popular New Orleans soup a try!
