Firewood Cutting Rack from wood pallet | DIY Sawbuck / Sawhorse
DIY & Review of my home made Firewood Cutting Rack made from Wood Pallets. A very quick and easy way to build your own Cutting Rack, Sawhorse or Sawbuck for cutting firewood with a chainsaw. I use sets of two of these for various wood length. Wider gaps at the back give room for your chainsaw sword to flex without damaging the rack. You can also make a simple X-style sawbuck with wood pallets but I prefer my rack version as it feels a lot more safe and sturdy. For me this the perfect, inexpensive, simple and stationary firewood cutting rack. Sorry the videos is a bit long, should've quit at 4-20.
PROS
+ Quick. You can build it within 10-20 minutes.
+ Easy. Only a few tools needed; a saw, about 14 screws, a screwdriver and a clamp.
+ Free. As long as you got some screws. Wood pallets are usually free with deliveries and some stores give old ones away for free.
+ Safe. A cutting rack stops pieces of wood from flying towards you. For more safety you can use a strap to fixate the wood. The rack is heavy and sits sturdy with the built-in stand on most ground.
+ Ergonomic. Good height for working with chainsaw, not too low or high.
+ Longevity. Last a long time even while storing outdoors over the winter. Use pieces of wood at the bottom to keep the chain from damaging the racks frame. Replace parts or use as firewood when it gets too old.
+ Flexible. Add more pallet wood to protect the rack, to keep wood from falling inside, or adjust to the preferred height.
CONS
No cons at all, zero, nada, nachos.
