Planning a trip?
Accommodation:There is an amazing range of accommodation available at EXCELLENT prices. Your options will include resorts, bamboo rooms, hostels. Average / low prices for a basic family room with AC will be £10-15. You can find beds for £3-5 if your on a budget but may end up in a dorm for these prices.
Food: Street food cheap and amazing! Healthy, varied, fresh. Juices, coconuts, noodles.
Getting around:
Bikes, tuk tuks and taxis. Cheap, readily available and great for short journeys.
Night buses: cheap and some have beds but can be rough with a baby! NEVER leave valuables under the bus. Be careful with your belongings.
Minibuses common.
Night train (e.g. Bangkok to Chiang Mai)
Kids travel free.
Health: Check with GP. Up to date with routine jabs. Have travel insurance!
Baby change and toilets: Squat and drop in rural areas. Always take toilet roll.
Lots of 7-11 with lots of nappies, baby accessories and food. Most supplies great quality and value.
Packing: The lighter the better. Umbrella, first aid kit. Take baby version of shampoo, mozzie repellant, sun cream and then just use for whole family. Sling vs pram (less sweaty but not as maneuverable). Mozzie net very useful. LINK: The ark. Scarf or light blanket. Can be used as a baby changing matt. Handful of loose long clothing. Clothing very cheap in Cambodia. Polo neck collars for baby.
Gentle culture. Be aware of theft and scams.
Safe, family friendly travel
Culture of looking out for children and families.
