He Brought His Father's RC Truck to Honor His Dad | RC ADVENTURES
When Greg wanted to honor his father, this was the place that made sense.
I've thought about that simple realization many times since filming this episode. Out of every place he could have gone, every event he could have attended, and every way he could have chosen to remember his father, Greg loaded Peter's RC truck into his vehicle, drove for hours with Kate, and came to RCtopia. Not because of the trails, the bridges, or even the RC trucks themselves, but because RC ADVENTURES had quietly become part of Peter's life. That thought has stayed with me ever since.
Peter never knew me personally. Like millions of others over the years, he was simply someone who enjoyed watching the adventures from home. He built RC trucks, shared that passion with his family, and created memories with his son. Those moments became something far greater than anyone could have expected. After Peter passed away, those memories inspired Greg to reach out to someone he had never met, fulfilling a dream his father never had the chance to experience himself. It's a reminder that the things we love often leave a much larger footprint than we ever realize.
After nearly eighteen years of creating RC ADVENTURES, I've been fortunate enough to meet thousands of viewers. I've watched children become adults, adults become parents, and families grow alongside this channel. As the years have passed, I've also learned that saying goodbye becomes an unavoidable part of a community that has existed for so long. I've received messages from wives, husbands, sons, daughters, parents, and lifelong friends letting me know that someone who once shared this hobby with them is no longer here. Every one of those messages reminds me that these videos have become woven into people's lives in ways I never imagined when I first pressed record back in 2008.
That is both an incredible blessing and a tremendous responsibility. Every time someone trusts me with a story like Peter's, I understand that I'm not simply making another RC video. I'm being entrusted with a small piece of someone's family history. I don't take that lightly, and I hope Greg and Kate see this episode not only as a day spent driving RC trucks, but as a tribute to a man whose passion continues to bring people together.
This experience reminded me of something I've slowly come to understand over the years. RC ADVENTURES was never truly about the trucks. The trucks gave us a reason to meet, to build, to explore, and to laugh together, but it has always been the people who gave this community its heart. Peter reminded me of that one more time.
If you've been part of this journey with me over the years, thank you. Whether you've watched for eighteen years or eighteen days, you've helped build something far greater than I ever could have imagined when I picked up a camera. I'm grateful that our paths crossed, and I hope we continue creating memories together for many years to come.
