Ağırdır 1956 yılında Çal, Denizli'de doğdu. 1979 yılında ODTÜ İdari İlimler Fakültesi İşletme Bölümü'nden mezun oldu. 1979-2003 yılları arasında çeşitli sanayi şirketlerinde yöneticilik yaptı. 2003-2005 yıllarında Tarih Vakfı'nda önce Koordinatör, daha sonra da Genel Müdür olarak çalıştı. 2005 yılından bu yana ise KONDA Araştırma ve Danışmanlık Ltd. Şti. Genel Müdürlüğü yapıyor. Kendisi Demokratik Cumhuriyet Programı kurucu üyesi, TESEV ve TÜSES Vakıfları Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi, T24 İnternet Gazetesi yazarıdır.

Ağırdır was born in Çal, Denizli in 1956. He graduated from the department of Business Administration at the Middle East Technical University in 1979 and worked as manager at varius industrial companies between the years of 1979-2003. He has worked at History Foundation of Turkey first as coordinator, then as the General Director between 2003 and 2005. He is now the General Manager of KONDA Research and Consultancy Company. He is also one of the founding members of the Democratic Republican Programme, a board member of TESEV and TÜSES Foundations and a columnist for the T24 internet news site.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
