Capitol Reef National Park: Goosenecks Overlook

Capitol Reef became a national monument in 1937 and a national park in 1971. The park preserves unique geological features, important archaeological evidence, diverse plant and animal communities, and the homesteads and stories of early pioneer settlers.

The drive through the national park is sensational, so I included some of the highway drive to get to the Goosenecks Overlook. The scenery along the way is a big part of the experience.

As you turn off Highway 24 to drive to the Goosenecks Overlook there is a parking lot to the west side of the road at Panorama Point. A brief stop here is certainly worth it. Well, panoramic! 😊

The Goosenecks Overlook is breathtaking. Walking up the very short trail to the edge of the cliff is always a trek of anticipation. You know you are going to gasp, “OMG!” as soon as you top the crest. Gorgeous!
