Duran Duran - Too Bad You're So Beautiful (Ice Queen Mix)

To me this is hands down the best Duran Duran track since the Rio album. *So close* to utter perfection! This version takes out the staccato singing between the verse and the chorus, which for me detracts from the melodic brilliance of the song. I then padded the end of the song to make it a bit longer. Nothing fancy here since I don't have isolated tracks to work with. Originally I made this mix for myself, but I figure somewhere out there is probably a Duranie who had the same thought and would appreciate my sharing it. Why the "Ice Queen" mix? I don't know - I had to call it something!

The artwork I put together in Photoshop. The photo is circa 1981 and hints to the debut album. The DD logo is from the Seven and the Ragged Tiger period. But the overall theme is Rio - which to me most captures the great melodic, haunting yet positive driving energy of Duran Duran - the sound I've been wanting more of (for nearly 30 years!) that this song manages to reach. The Patrick Nagel artwork above was apparently an alternate cover for the Rio album. It definitely fits the theme of "Too Bad You're So Beautiful".
