Impala trapped between wild dogs and crocodile

African Bush Camps guide, Dutch Kasale and his guests from Khwai Bush Camp were searching for a pack of wild dogs they had seen the previous night when all of a sudden, a male impala darts in front of them and the dogs they were looking for behind him. What followed was one of these very rare Botswana safari sightings.

The Impala - in a desperate attempt to escape - jumped into a nearby dam. Unfortunately, the water wasn't safe either, as the impala encounters a crocodile.

The poor impala shakes in the water – the adrenaline clearly overwhelming him at this point. The croc tried a few times to bite the impala but it was quite a large bull.

He tries to outlast the wild dogs in the water but the water gets too cold and he starts shivering. He decides to swim away with the croc still chomping on his tail.

The impala reaches the shallower water where the dogs have the advantage and the poor impala meets his fate. This display really proves why these dogs are the most successful hunters on earth. Although this time they might have just gotten lucky.
