US expects 'double-digit billions' in Chinese farm purchases after Trump-Xi summit, says Greer

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer expects that after US President Donald Trump concludes his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, China will commit to purchasing several billion US dollars of American agricultural products annually over the next three years. The purchases will not be limited to soybeans but will include all other agricultural products.

Greer is accompanying Trump on his state visit to China, marking the first visit to China by a US president in nearly a decade. Greer said China understands that the US is most concerned about creating a level playing field and hopes to focus on advancing trade in non-sensitive goods.

Regarding NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joining the delegation at the last minute, Greer said semiconductor export controls are not a primary topic of the US-China bilateral meeting, but the delegation will indeed have the opportunity to raise the issue with the two leaders.
