Facebook's parent company Meta was urged to cancel the deal

The Wall Street Journal,
citing sources familiar with the matter,
reported that Meta (META.US)
is reportedly preparing to withdraw its acquisition of AI startup Manus after the Chinese government blocked the deal on national security grounds, reflecting increased scrutiny of US investments in domestic startups developing cutting-edge technologies. The deal was valued at over $2 billion.

Reports indicate that Manus's investors, including Benchmark, have already seen returns on their investments. Sources also say that several former Manus investors in Asia, including Tencent (00700), HSG, and ZhenFund, are planning to cooperate if Meta proceeds with the withdrawal.
