Rose Maddox & Arlo Guthrie, "Philadelphia Lawyer" (Reno Blues), 1984
This is a transfer from a 1984 VHS NTSC video tape:
Rose Maddox & Arlo Guthrie talking about (and performing) Woody Guthrie's "Philadelphia Lawyer" (Reno Blues) in 1984 for the "Hard Travelin'" documentary (publishing rights were bought back by Arlo Guthrie, according to an interview I conducted with him in 2007).
This file will be removed as soon as an authorised DVD/Blueray of the footage becomes available. Until then, it is shared as a tribute to Rose Maddox who would have turned 97 on August 15, 2022.
A complete (inferior quality) version of the 1984 documentary (rights owned by Arlo Guthrie) can be found on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roRzmTmT5kU.
Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.
