Joan Baez, "Mi Venganza Personal", unidentified TV show, c. 1984.
From the "Back from Nicaragua" documentary, 1984.
"Mi Venganza Personal" (My Personal Revenge) by Tomás Borge and Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy
"Tomás Borge was a poet and a political activist who was tortured under the Somosa regime. After the Sandinista Revolution he became Minister of Interiors. One of his first actions was to release ex officers. During the official ceremony he recognized one of his former torturers. Minister Borge walked towards him and told him dryly: 'This release is my personal revenge'. This scene inspired Borge's friend Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy to write this song about the Sandinistas' legendary forgivingness."
