Aged 28 Sarah Höfflin won an Olympic Gold Medal in Slopestyle skiing for Switzerland. However, to get this far she followed a very unusual path. After graduating with a degree in neuroscience and realising she didn’t like the 9-5 lifestyle, she decided to dedicate herself to skiing ultimately representing her country. Today she is an example for young women wishing to compete in a male dominated field, that everything is possible if you work hard enough. To achieve her goals she had to face challenges and make sacrifices, which shaped the person she is today. In her talk she highlights the importance of matching ambitions to your abilities bringing forward examples from her life in entertaining and insightful ways. - This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
