Песню "Someone to Watch Over Me" сочинил композитор Джордж Ге́ршвин на слова Айра Гершвина в 1926 году для Бродвейского мюзикла "О, Кей!", в котором эту песню впервые исполнила актриса и певица Гертруда Лоуренс.
Первоначально эта песня исполнялась в быстром темпе, но однажды Джордж Гершвин сыграл её, как балладу и с тех пор она исполняется в лирическом стиле.
